Radionuclides are indespensible in modern medical diagnostics and treatment of cancer. For the efficient production of medical radioisotopes neutron sources play an importnat role. At the 2nd Hi-Acts Network Meeting and Hi-Tech Forum on Nov. 4-5, 2024 at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden Rossendorf a special session was dedicated to the topic of accelerator-based production of medical radionuclides. The concept and opportunities of HBS as high-current accelerator based neutron source for radionuclide production was featured in a presentation by Dr. Thomas Gutberlet.
